Effective pollution policies
Governments and councils are unable to make decisions on policies to reduce the creation and spread of pollution with existing pollution data. It takes many years and a lot of money to understand the impact that a single change may have, and even then it is often based on modelling rather than measuring.
Informed decision-making for everyone
With so little data on pollution in the surrounding area it is impossible to make informed decisions about travel, commuting, where to live, and more. Air pollution has a major impact on children's development and can strongly affect individuals with asthma or other respiratory illnesses, yet without data or personalised pollution monitoring there is no way to protect against it.
Health and productivity in the workplace
Employers cannot take into account the impact of air pollution on the health of their employees - which is particularly damaging for those in high pollution industries, such as construction or manufacturing, or for those who at-risk. Both health and productivity are sacrificed without personalised pollution monitoring and better pollution data.
Pushing for vital change
People who are affected by high air pollution do not have a voice when it comes to making real changes in the community. A pollution monitoring network will empower everyone to speak up using real data about where and when pollution occurs, helping protect the community, especially schools and and open air areas.
